Celebrities opt for hair transplant india. Can you afford it?

Uncontrolled hair fall can ruin your career, especially if you are celebrity, as the constant scrutiny of the media and fans becomes unbearable beyond a point. Owing to this, many sportspersons, politicians and Bollywood stars, who have faced the problem of hair loss, have opted for a permanent solution of hair transplantation. From our newly appointed prime minister, Narendra Modi to celebrated cricketer of the yesteryears, Sunil Gavaskar and from our Dabang Salaman khan to hard hitter Virendra Sehwag, all are believed to have gone under the knife to get back their crowning glory.

Are you, too, suffering from the same problem?

Wigs, comb overs, and hairpieces are now a thing of the past. While these were the only options available once, today, there are numerous products and techniques available to stop balding or camouflage it so well that hardly anyone can notice your receding hairline. It is up to you to choose an appropriate product or treatment also considering the cost associated with it.

Here are some of the techniques used to conceal thin hair and their approximate cost:

Hair transplantation:

This is a surgical procedure that involves moving individual hair follicles from a part of the body called the 'donor site' to a bald or balding part of the body known as the 'recipient site'. It is also used to restore eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, etc. The best part about this technique is that it is a permanent solution. What may be a pain in the neck is the number of surgical treatments it may involve. Hair transplantation generally costs Rs 60-70 per graft, if the numbers of grafts are above 2,000.

Hair weaving, bonding and fusion

Unlike hair transplantation, these are temporary treatments. They involve attachment of hair bearing devices to the existing hair on your scalp. These external hair bearing devices may be anything from weaves to micro clips to adhesives. They help to conceal the bald portion on your scalp. Although these may be cheaper options, there are some cons associated with them. One they are not permanent, two they need maintenance and three they may invite skin problems like scaling, itching and dandruff. Depending on the quality and length of hair, the cost of these treatments ranges from Rs. 20,000 to 30,000.

Temporary hair camouflage with micro fibers

This procedure, although temporary, is quite convenient. It involves the use of tiny micro fibers that bind with your remaining hair and scalp. The procedure is easy to follow, as you can apply the micro fibers anywhere and anytime. Nanogen's micro fibers are the best in the market, as they have been manufactured after years of research in the field. This treatment costs approximately Rs. 1500.

Why hair loss prevention ?

Each strand of hair has its own growth cycle, which has three distinct phases that occur one after the other. These are - anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. While one strand of hair may be in the anagen phase, another may be in the catagen phase and a third in the telogen phase. Thus all three phases occur simultaneously. A strand of hair grows around 1.25 cms in a month. Once a cycle is complete, the whole cycle restarts and a new strand of hair begins to grow.

During the last phase ie. the telogen phase, the hair and its follicle stay in a dormant stage for almost 2 to 3 months. Once the telogen phase is complete, it's time for a whole new cycle and the anagen phase begins. The existing strand of hair is pushed upwards and out by a new strand that begins to grow. This leads to faaling of the old strand.

Losing around 100 hair a day is considered as normal. But there are ceratin factors that can adversely affect the normal life cycle of a hair. Heredity, poor diet, poor blood circulation, wrong styling, harsh shampoos, exposure to excessive heat, smoking, certain medical conditions, and stress are some of them. These days a thinning mane, receding hairlines and baldness have become a common matter of concern. Hair loss prevention, hence, becomes a must if you want to maintain the volume of your crown.

With the advent of science, hair fall treatment is now possible, and you can regrow your lost hair with hair growth products available in the market. It's just about choosing the right and safe products, which is kind of tricky with so many options available. Act fast, as hair loss is not only a physical condition but it can also destroy your morale leading to social isolation.
